Tadpole stage only occupy still water-bodies.

Froglet still occupy water bodies soon to 'migrate' land areas.

Its tail length decrease in fast rate at this stage.

Microhyla butleri (adult stage), commonly found in both

cleared habitats such as gardens & disturbed forest on

the ground among bushes/grasses.

A tiny Microhylid frog was found in the ISB Garden, UM Campus.

A new record for UM Campus! Not that common compare to its congener viz. Microhyla butleri & Microhyla heymonsi.

In terms of size, it is more bigger than its congener viz. Copera marginipes and Copera vittata.

Ivory white abdomen with black bands, white legs & white bands on thorax. Widely distributed in the lowland - forested swamps, still water-bodies.

Giant land snail - Achatina fulica

This land-snail easily encounter at night at the ISB Garden UM Campus.

It is locally known as Siput Babi and a macrophytophagous herbivore.

Bufo (Duttaphrynus) melanostictus and Fejervarya limnocharis were found abundantly at the altered habitats.

Taiwan bullfrog Hoplobtrachus chinensis is not native species to Peninsular Malaysia. It was introduced to this country as a delicacy at various restaurants.

On young shoot of mango tree a group of ants tending the treehoppers.

The treehoppers secrete the sweet honeydew for the ants, in exchange for protections :=)

Above pictures were taken at the Institute of Biological Sciences' Garden UM at night 21:30 - 22:45 hrs 05.01.2011. In short period of time, I'm managed to photograph 6 species of frog at one particular spot! Indeed our backyard still rich with biogems (in this case frogs & toad).

p/s: Culex sp. is a carrier of filariasis and viral encephalitis .

Pictures were taken using NIKON D200 (NA's) + Nikon 60mm f/2.8

There are vast of organisms (flora, fauna, etc.) need to be discovered within the Universiti Malaya's Campus. They are waiting for us to reveal their presence around us. I'm believed there are few of us realised what we have in our compounds. So let us do not forget or ignore what we have in our backyards. Could be there any new noble findings to be discovered soon?
